Red Ajah of Dragonmount

The Ajah

The Red Ajah is the largest Ajah. They have, for millennia, been seeking out men who can channel and gentling them. They do this mostly by detecting the residue of weaves made from saidin. As part of their ideology they despise men, and even refuse to bond Warders. Red sisters generally do not have friends outside of their Ajah. Reds are rarely raised to be Amyrlin; only two known Amyrlins have ever been dethroned, and they were both Red. The last Red to be raised to the Stole was Bonwhin, whose attempt at controlling Artur Hawkwing led to an attempted invasion of Tar Valon by Hawkwing. She was removed and replaced with Deane Aryman, a Blue. Reds and Blues have been at odds ever since. The Ajah is governed by a leader known as Highest. Elaida do Avriny a’Roihan, a Red, has recently been raised to Amyrlin, causing a divide between sisters of all Ajahs. Important Reds include Elaida, Galina Casban, Tarna Feir, Silviana Brehon, Tsutama Rath, Sashalle Anderly, Teslyn Baradon, Pevara, Duhara and Toveine Gazal.

The Sisters

Amira Moselle:
A Taraboner, Amira served as both the Mistress of Novices and a Red Sitter. She is mentioned in a New Spring, Lord of Chaos, and A Crown of Swords. She stepped down as Sitter close to when Elaida comes back to Tar Valon from Caemlyn. She is one of those sent with the Cairhien Embassy to Rand. She is later killed at the battle at Dumai’s Wells.

Barasine:
We are not sure of her city of origin though she is described as tall and lean. She is mentioned in Knife of Dreams and Lord of Chaos. She was one of the Reds that Logain claimed forced him to become a false Dragon. She is also one of the Aes Sedai who captures Egwene at Southharbor and brings her to Silviana.

Bonwhin Cariandre :
FY 939 Bonwhin was raised Amrylin Seat, her reign lasts until FY992. She tried to control Artur Hawkwing, and was stripped of Staff and Stole. She was the last Amrylin to be raised from the Red Ajah and was also the last person to be confined to the White Tower dungeons until Siuan and Leane. Died FY 996

Chisaine Nurbaya :
One of the three Aes Sedai taken prisoner at Dumai’s Wells. Swore fealty to Rand.

Covarla Baldene :
Pale haired. One of Galina’s Aes Sedai at Dumai’s Wells, After returning to the Tower, she was sent to the village of Dorlain to keep her quiet. She is in charge in Dorlain and has been Aes Sedai as long as Elaida has been alive.

Desala Nevanche:
A beautiful Cairhienin who loves to dance, she is one of the Aes Sedai who captures Leane at Southharbor and beats her. She is also one of the Sisters who Travels to the Black Tower to ask for permission to bond Asha’man. She is mentioned in Knife of Dreams.

Duhara Basaheen :
Coppery skinned, with big dark eyes. She meets with Elaida and other Sitters to discuss the Seanchan, the Rebl\els and Rand. It was not said if she herself was a Sitter.

Elaida a’Roihan :
Elaida is the youngest daughter of a minor house of Murandy. She is said to be handsome rather than beautiful and has dark eyes. She was raised to Accepted in 970 NE and foretells that the Royal House of Andor will play a significant role in defeating the Dark One in the Last Battle. She was raised to Aes Sedai in 973 NE and in 975 NE she becomes advisor to Queen Morgase of Andor. She proclaimed herself the Amrylin Seat after Siuan was deposed.

Galina Casban:
Raised to the Shawl in 915NE. She has a round face and long black hair. She has dark eyes and a plump mouth. In 981 NE she was appointed as Highest of the Red Ajah, but does not sit in the Hall. She is also Black Ajah and second in command of the Black Ajah. Led the circle that stilled Siuan Sanche. One of many Aes Sedai that captured Rand. Captured by the Shaido at Dumai’s Wells and made dat’sang. She is one that swore fealty to Sevanna and the Shaido Wise Ones using what seemed to be an Oath Rod.

Gyldan:
Elaida’s closest confidante, Black Ajah and she may well be imaginary. Gyldan is one of the thirteen Black Ajah who prepare to turn Egwene to the Shadow on her third trip through the three arches during her Accepted test.

Innina Darenhold :
Taken prisoner at Dumai’s Wells. Swore fealty to Rand

Janine Pavlara :
Helps kidnap Rand, so young she does not yet look ageless. Is taken prisoner by Asha’man at Dumai’s Wells, swears fealty to Rand.

Javindhra Doraille :
Sitter. Despite smooth cheeks, her angular face is hard enough to hammer nails. Her voice is harsh. Part of Elaida’s Council, participates in the takeing of Siuan into custody.

Jenare :
Sent to take out the Black Tower. Captured by the Asha’man and bonded by Welyn Kajima.
Katerine Alruddin: Raven haired and dark eyed. Riased to Aes Sedai in 982 NE. Swore oaths to the Dark One in 987 NE, becoming a member of the Black Ajah. Captured at Dumai’s Wells and help prisoner by the Asha’man.

Jezrail:
A Tairenian, she is in love before coming to the White Tower. She carries a small miniature of that loved one even though he has been dead for a generation. She is one of the Sisters who escorts Egwene to classes and doses her up with forkroot to keep her from channeling to full Power. She is also one of the Sisters who Travels to the Black Tower to ask for permission to bond Asha’man. She is mentioned in Knife of Dreams.

Katerine Alruddin:
We do not know the city of origin of this Aes Sedai but she is a known Black Sister. She is one of the Sisters of the Cairhien embassy who imprisons Rand in a box. She is one of the Sisters captured by Asha’man at Dumai’s Wells but later she escapes, her guards poisoned. She is among the Sisters who capture Egwene at Southharbor and later guards her in the Novice quarters and then keep her dosed up with forkroot. She has long black hair and is known for her sharp tongue.
She is mentioned in a New Spring, Lord of Chaos, and Knife of Dreams.

Laigin Arnault :
killed when taking Rand prisoner (at Dumai’s Wells)

Lemai:
One of the Aes Sedai sent to take out the Black Tower; was taken prisoner by the Asha’man. Out of that party is it said that Lemai was one of the strongest.

Liandrin :
Black Ajah. Liandrin is a wilder from Tarabon although she will not admit it. She is young and pretty with a doll’s face and a small petulant mouth, rosebud lips, dark brows and darker eyes. Pale honey braids brushing her shoulders.

Lirene Doirellin:
former Sitter. Exiled along with Toveine and Tsutama for their role in gentling male channelers outside the walls of the Tower.

Memara :
Sent to Saldaea to keep Queen Tenobia under control.

Pevara Tazanovni :
Sitter for about 15 years, appointed in 985 NE. She is Kandori and approximately 160 years old. Hunts the Black Ajah. Pevara approves of Reds having Warders, although she herself doesn’t have one.

Sashalle Anderly :
She has blue eyes and shoulder length curly hair. One of the Aes Sedai that was stilled when Rand broke the shield they were holding on him.

Silviana Brehon :
Mistress of Novices after Elaida took the Amrylin Seat. Gave Elaida a private penance (on Alviarin’s orders) for issuing orders without Alviarin’s permission.

Tarna Feir :
Wilder. In 965 NE Tarna was entered into the Novice books. Raised to Accepted in 974 NE. She is haughty with yellow hair, blue eyes and a prominent chin. Sends a report to Elaida and the Tower about the Salidar Aes Sedai. Elected to Keeper of the Chronicles after Alviarin’s disappearance.

Nesita:
We do not know the city of origin of Nesita Sedai. A plump little woman, she is one of the Sisters who escort Mattin Stepaneos while he is in the White Tower. It is during this trek that he stops and talks to Egwene. Nesita is known to be quite mean and is only mentioned in Knife of Dreams.

Tesien Jorhald:
Very little is known about this Red Sister. We only know that in a Crown of Swords she was forced to break off her friendship with Seaine.

Teslyn Baradon :
Illianer. Scrawny and mean looking with a constantly scowling face. She has narrow shoulders and dark brown eyes. She was elected Sitter in 985 NE. Taken prisoner and made damane after the Seanchan invade Ebou Dar.

Tetsuan :
Amrylin Seat during the Trolloc Wars. She betrayed Manetheran out of jealousy for Ellisande, she was stripped of staff and stole after being discovered.

Toveine Gazal :
Sitter. Short and slightly plump with coppery skin, dark eyes and long glossy hair. She is considered attractive but not beautiful. Sent to exile after being punished for an unknown crime (980 NE). She was called out of exile to lead the Aes Sedai that were sent to take out the Black Tower. Captured by the Asha’man and bonded by Logain.

Tsutama Rath:
Sitter. Sent into exile along with Toveine and Lirene for her role in gentling male channelers outside of the Tower.

Vayelle Kamsa :
Taken prisoner at Dumai’s Wells. One of the last four to swear fealty to Rand.
